Elk Store Winery & Distillery

In 1895, a fourteen-year-old boy left Moravia to seek the American dream. His ship landed in Galveston, Texas where he was taken into indentured servitude, picking cotton for his passage. Through hard work, he escaped and later settled in Elk, Texas, eventually owning several cotton gins and the Elk General Store. Founded by the great-grandson of John Cyril Smajstrla, the Elk Store Winery & Distillery serves a large selection of small-batch handmade liquors by the case, bottle, or cocktail, along with wines from all over the world in a cozy Prohibition-style speakeasy lounge.
